Yippee!

You might have noticed the blog has been slow this week and most of our calls have gone to voicemail… well we haven’t been ignoring you– we have been at the annual Florida Professional Photographers Conference in Orlando.  We had a great few days learning all kinds of new stuff and getting really inspired again. :)

Part of the conference is a print competition where professionals from all over the state enter images for judging.  Its a pretty complicated process and every tiny part of an image is scrutinized.  In an overly simple explanation, a panel of 4 judges score the images one at a time.  If a print receives a certain score, it is considered a  “merit” print.  Its pretty hard to have prints merit, as it is a group of professionals voting that you created a beautiful image that has style, impact and is technically superior.

Until this week, I have been far too chicken to compete.  :)  This year, I entered 4 prints into the competition…. and TWO of them merited!! In total, there were more than 600 images entered and only around 50 people received merits.  So, here are my meriting images!  :)

Another happy moment…

I had another happy moment last night when my image placed first in the Children’s category at our local photographer’s meeting.  :)  So here is the winning print of Jason!

Baby Rylee

Baby Rylee is a girl on a mission!  She is way too busy to sit still or stand in one place!  :)  Rylee was in the studio yesterday for her 9 month session and she was so funny!  She has an absolute mind of her own and a hilarious squeal when she doesn’s get to do what she wants.  I can only imagine what she will be like as a teenager!

Big Boy Jason!

When Jason smiles I swear it comes from down in his toes.  He has the biggest most infectious grin you have ever seen!  We met up with Jason and his mom yesterday at the Southwood Plantation House for his one year session.  He is so fast and silly– he definitely gave me a run for my money! :)

Baby Madisyn

Baby Madisyn has such a spunky personality!  She had me laughing so hard yesterday at her six month portrait session– she was either sticking out her tongue and blowing raspberries or she had this adorable two tooth grin that took up her entire face.  She is just so much fun to be around!

Baby Josie

Baby Josie was back in the studio yesterday for her six month session and she is as cute as ever!  She is such a doll– we got so many great images it was SO hard to narrow it down for the blog!!

Nicole & David

Saturday was such an emotional day!  Olyn and I were at St. Thomas More and the FSU Alumni Center for Nicole and David’s wedding.  When a couple has been together for 5 1/2 years like Nicole and David, there are going to be a lot of emotions!  I’ll admit it– they made me cry… but it was mostly from laughing.  Nicole has the most wonderful sense of humor and makes you feel like an old friend after only moments.  Their friends and family were the same and the entire day was such a celebration of how wonderful they each are and how amazing their love for one another is.

Nicole’s something blue– her new name embroidered on the inside of her dress.

One of my favorite images of the day– Olyn really caught all of mom’s emotions as she saw her daughter for the first time in her gown.

Another amazing Missy Gunnels’ bouquet:

We kicked everyone out of the hotel room for a few quiet moments with Nicole.

Nicole kept apologizing for her unstoppable smiles– she just isn’t a serious person!

We went to the church for a few portraits with David before the ceremony.

I love this shot of Nicole and her mom moments before the ceremony.  They tried so hard to keep it together!

The ceremony was a bit delayed waiting for the FSU football team chaplain to arrive, as he was the co-officiant.  The result was one of the most efficient Catholic ceremonies I have ever seen!  :)

After the ceremony we had a few moments for portraits:

They kept the first dance from being too emotional with a little humor.  David is just a tad taller than Nicole..

I am always looking for details and this one really stood out to me– David’s hand with his ACC Championship ring on Nicole’s waist during their dance.

The emotions did still get to Nicole’s mom and sisters as they watched-

A little fun with the rings and the cake plates.

I loved their wedding favors– chocolate covered pretzels!  Yummy!

The toasts from the best men were hilarious and embarrassed David just a bit.

Nicole’s expressions during the garter toss cracked me up!
