Lisa & Jason

Knowing Lisa and Jason, I knew Saturday’s wedding would not be one of those serious, solemn occasions.  I often tease Jason that he does not have a serious bone in his body.  I was most definitely correct– the day was a whirlwind of laughter and fun and I was so thankful that I was able to be a part of it.

As many of you know, I came down with the flu last week and I had a really rough time of it.  On Friday, I did call and get the help of my good friend, Terri Smith, for the wedding day.  When Olyn and I left the house Saturday morning I had all of these awful fears of passing out, getting dizzy and falling down, taking only blurry images or just hacking like crazy during the ceremony.  While none of these happened and I did still manage to get some great images, I was so thankful to have two amazing professionals in Olyn and Terri covering everything as well!

As always, Missy Gunnels did an amazing job with all the flowers!

The ceremony at Good Shepard Catholic Church allowed Olyn, Terri and I to cover completely different angles of all the events.

We literally spent five minutes of the entire day foing portraits at the church.  I just love this one spot they have in the back!

We did all the other portraits on the beautiful grounds of Goodwood Plantation and Museum.

Jennifer & Ed

I spent Saturday here in Tallahassee for Jennifer and Ed’s wedding and it was a riot from start to finish! At one point, Jennifer made me laugh so hard I actually had to walk away just to catch my breath! She and Ed are outrageously funny and people you are just really happy to know and I feel so honored they chose me for their wedding! After hunting around the church, I found this spot for the dress. I always tell people that light makes the image– everything around the dress is less than ideal, but with the right light, nothing else matters!
I had a few minutes with the bride alone before the ceremony and again I found some beautiful light coming in the church windows– the bride’s reflection was an added bonus!I wanted a matching image of Ed, but I just couldn’t do the reflection again, so I tried something a little different.I really love Good Shephard Catholic Church– they are incredible when it comes to photography and allow me to stand behind a pew near the altar– where I have an amazing view of the bride and groom. Not everyone was so into the ceremony– the ringbearer was a little less than enthused.
Again, back at my window, we did a few portraits of the bride and groom before we headed outside.
I have shot at Good Shephard lots of times, but this was the first time I discovered this wall– a new favorite location!

Once we got over to the Tallahassee Women’s Club at Los Robles, we had a few extra minutes of portraits– with the couple’s awesome car!One of the biggest reasons I love the Women’s Club is the light coming through all the windows. It really adds to the mood of the couple’s first dance.Of course, they added their own drama as well. The incredible double chocolate creation by Katie’s Cakes and Catering! Really… I know I say it a lot, but she ROCKS!And the less than nice cake cutting…This was definitely a first for me… the entire party launched into re-enactments of the movie Footloose when the song came on! www.LongsPhotography.com

Julie & Steve

Julie and Steve’s wedding day started out with a really dramatic looking sky, but quickly turned into an all out downpour. I really admired them as they laughed and joked through the less than ideal weather. I think most couples would have fallen apart, but these two were so focused on one another, I barely think they noticed! When you have a full Catholic mass, it really gives the photographer an opportunity to get different angles and focus on details. With a lot of ceremonies lasting 15 minutes, an hour long ceremony can sometimes be a great relief!Thank goodness the church had all these covered walkways so we could sneak out for some casual stuff! The outdoor reception had to be shuffled inside at Dorothy B. Oven, but it made for a really cozy atmosphere.Vendors:
